Vacation: Day 7

Something was off, I could feel it.

This is the first time in over 20 days that I didn't schedule a blog to go out at 6 AM. Yesterday, I spent practically the whole day reflecting so I didn't make time to schedule a blog post. I don't even know what time I woke up because I didn't check my phone until 5 PM. It was so restorative to not have a schedule, the freedom to do what I wanted when I wanted was quite liberating. I started the day off reading the bible and journaling while I questioned my own feelings.

The thing is, the seven days prior to this reflective day, I didn't do much reflecting. I didn't think it was a big deal until I realized just how frustrated I became, how off I felt. I wrote down four possibilities about where this frustration could have derived and I prayed about each possibility. In the midst of those several hours, no large realizations were shown to me, only reminders; but man, did I feel so much better after digging! The simple act of reflecting is sufficient for the soul, regardless of the outcome.

Here are a couple of them:

  • Consistent journaling, bible reading, and meditative prayer are integral to my overall health.
  • For some reason, I have much more margin to love people big if I spend time reflecting.
  • When I'm distraught, I can't dream or progress very well in any aspect of my life.

Do you reflect on a regular basis?
