The Truth of Tragedy

Seth King is tough. The real truth of the origins of his company called Kinggfit was inspired by the loss of someone very close. Kinggfit is more than a fitness fad, it is a lifestyle aimed to pursue a better you. This is a story behind the brand, a story of redemption and hope in the midst of a tragic situation.

This journey started my senior year of high school. I was in a sports med program in which we worked out everyday. My workout partner was named Nick Gaumer. He was so energetic and would give his all in everything. Whenever he saw that I was not giving everything I had, he would motivate me to go above and beyond. During a winter storm Nick and his sister got into a car crash, his leg pinned in the car. When the emergency squad got there, the only way to get him out of the car was to cut off his leg. Fighting all the way to the hospital, Nick lost too much blood and passed away. I was completely devastated. Eventually I had to ask myself “what would Nick want me to do?”. The way I saw it, I had two choices; I could keep on moping around or stand up and do something.

Since then, have been a couple of lessons I have learned. The first is that no matter what hard times come my way, I can overcome. Whether it be death, divorce, a breakup, or anything else, it is possible to overcome. Secondly, there will be times when people impact your life, or you impact someone else’s life without even being aware of it, but I believe we must use these moments of influence for good and spread it to those around us.

In my efforts to do this, I have decided to start Kinggfit. This is not to boost my name up but to share what Nick has done in my life. He showed me that I could and can get through hard times. This is a truth than I want to spread to the world. So I leave with these words, Pursue a better you and people will be impacted.

Seth's story shows resiliency in creating something good and helpful for the world out of what may seem to be a hopeless situation. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond to it.
