Sunburns and Gratitude

Today a bunch of us friends headed to the beach. Out of the endless beaches of San Diego, we decided to go up to Pacific Beach. Being here over 13 months, I was delightfully surprised that I've never been to PB before. Getting to the beach around 12 PM as the sun glistened off the big waves, we unpacked out stuff and jumped in the water. We ended up staying at the beach all day, leaving at 7 PM as we couldn't tear ourselves away from the perfect weather.

I'm grateful to be living in San Diego. I'm grateful for my friends. I'm not grateful for my terrible sunburn though. I guess that's what I get when I intentionally don't apply sunscreen for the first four hours because I think it's for the weak. Well, by the fourth hour, I realized how weak I was and, even though too late, I finally applied the sunscreen. Needless to say, it was far too late.

Some days it's very easy to be grateful. Some days it's extremely hard, but I think, for our own sanity, intentionally placing ourselves as the receiver of something great is integral.

Be Grateful for something
