A Small Prayer

I met a man who needed a ride from the hospital. It was 10:30 PM as he asks with his frail hand reaching out to greet me. Telling me his name is Carlos and his place is only 10 minutes away, I agree to give him a ride. He goes on to tell me that he has been in jail for 20 years as he robbed banks in his prior life. Just over three months ago he was released and is now living in a midway home.

He can't find a job, a place of residence, or a community. Hearing this, I knew I had to do my part in order to help him. Honestly, I don't really know what that is yet, but I have to believe God still has a plan for his life. Even if it's slim, I have to believe God could put the broken pieces together an paint a story of redemption.  Before I left him, I got his case managers humber and then we prayed for hope together standing in below a dimly lit street light.

God, may you use these hands and these feet to be your kingdom on earth. Let my heart be realigned with what your heart breaks for, even if it’s uncomfortable for me.

How have you let God use you this week?
